Sam Morgan

(1895 - 1936)

Sam Morgan was a New Orleans trumpeter and bandleader who was an associate of trombonist Jim Robinson and later George Guesnon. Morgan's 1927 Columbia recordings featuring his "Jazz Band" continue to be among the best of the genre. Known as the "Young Morgan Band" the group often toured the gulf coast circuit between Galveston, Texas and Pensacola, Florida.
