"The Two Tom Howells"

Recorded in San Antonio, Texas on June 9th 1930 featuring Tom A Howell cornet, Lee Howell trombone, Steve Gardner clarinet, Fred Gardner clarinet, tenor sax, & director, Chester Skeekatz alto sax & violin, Tommy Howell piano, Bill Lewis banjo & guitar, John Gardner bass brass, and Jay "Bird" Thomas drums.

*"No Trumps" was composed by Fred Gardner.

Though it was credited to Gardner the tune is really just a modified arrangement of the "Darktown Strutters' Ball".

There were actually two Tom Howell's who were band-mates in "Fred Gardner's Texas University Troubadours". One "Tom Howell" was the band's cornetist Thomas Alva Howell jr., while the other can be identified as pianist F.N. "Tommy" Howell.
