Vernon Dalhart

(April 6th 1883 - September 14th 1948)

Born Marion Try Slaughter in Jefferson, Texas, Vernon Dalhart was a popular singer and songwriter during the early part of the 20th century. He first began appearing on records in 1916, but would have his greatest success as a country music singer with a lasting influence.
