"A Tribute to Johnny Dodds"

A Tribute to the great Johnny Dodds, the best Hot Jazz clarinetist in history uploaded May 25th 2020 featuring Mike Davis (New York, USA) trumpet, Francisco F. Castillo (Córdoba, Argentina) clarinet, Steve Pistorius (New Orleans, USA) piano, and Benny Amón (New Orleans, USA) drums.

Thanks to modern technology, despite the Pandemic, these four musicians from across the globe were able to produce this fantastic tribute by recreating Johnny Dodds and company's revered April 1927 jam on a tune written by Fats Waller and J.C. Johnson and recorded for Vocalion.

Originally committed to disc by "Jimmy Bertrand’s Washboard Wizards" featuring the red hot clarinet of Johnny Dodds, this side has since become an iconic example of small band Chicago jazz at its finest.
