This record was cut in New York City on March 22nd 1923 featuring Phil Napoleon trumpet, Miff Mole trombone, Jimmy Lytell clarinet, Frank Signorelli piano, Ray Kitchingman banjo, and Jack Roth drums.

*"Snake Hips" was composed by Spencer Williams.

Following Nick LaRocca's nervous breakdown and the dissolution of the "Original Dixieland Jass Band" in 1922 Phil Napoleon and former ODJB member Frank Signorelli made the "Original Memphis Five's" first recording. With Nick LaRocca's permission their first 78 was released under the ODJB name.
