Bailey's Lucky Seven
Feat. Cliff Edwards
This recording by "Bailey's Lucky Seven" was made in New York City on September 19th 1922 with members including Phil Napoleon trumpet, Charles Panelli trombone, Jimmy Lytell clarinet, Frank Signorelli piano, John Cali banjo, and Cliff Edwards ukulele & vocals.
*"Homesick" was composed by Irving Berlin.
Special guest Cliff Edwards imitates a horn (or kazoo) with his unique scat-like vocalizations, a technique which he referred to simply as "effin".
"Bailey's Lucky Seven" was a Gennett Records' studio band organized solely for the purpose of recording by bandleader Sam Lanin. The line-up of the white musicians presented on these sides was often basically the same as that of the "Original Memphis Five".
