Feat. Lonnie Johnson

This side was recorded in Chicago on December 13th 1927 featuring Louis Armstrong trumpet, Kid Ory trombone, Johnny Dodds clarinet, Lil Hardin Armstrong piano, Johnny St Cyr banjo & guitar, and Lonnie Johnson guitar.

*"Savoy Blues" was composed by Kid Ory.

This was the third "Hot Five" recording to feature the effective addition of Lonnie Johnson who takes a dynamic solo backed by the comp of piano keys and St. Cyr's guitar.

Johnny St. Cyr switches to the guitar to back up Lonnie Johnson's guitar, and they maintain a guitar duet through to the end of the record. (Never realized this before.) -Dan Weinstein
