This recording was produced in Chicago in 1928 featuring Clifford Hayes alto sax & leader, Hense Grundy trombone, Cal Smith tenor guitar, and Johnny Gatewood piano.

*"Clef Club Stomp" was composed by Clifford Hayes.

Clifford Hayes was a decent violinist and prominent musical figure of Louisville, Kentucky as a founding member of the "Louisville Jug Band" along with jug blower Earl McDonald. His later efforts issued as "Hayes' Louisville Stompers" dropped the jug replacing it with a trombone. Hayes also doubled on alto saxophone.
