This recording was made in Richmond, Indiana on March 20th 1931 featuring Alfred Bell kazoo & vocals, Jimmy Blythe piano & leader, Ed Hudson banjo, Jimmy Bertrand washboard.

The "State Street Ramblers" appeared under a variety of pseudonyms depending on the record label. On Champion they were called the "Chicago Stompers", "Blythe's Blue Boys", and the "Down Home Serenaders." Paramount issued their works under the name of the "Johnny Dodds Four", while on Decca they were the "Blue Jay Boys." On the Superior label the group was known as "Speed Jeffries' Night Owls."
