Burnin' with Jelly

Recorded in New York City on July 9th 1929 with Dave Richards and Boyde Rosser trumpets, Charlie Irvis trombone, George Baquet clarinet, Walter Thomas tenor sax, Paul Barns soprano sax, Joe Thomas alto sax, 'Jelly Roll' Morton piano & leader, Barney Alexander banjo, Harry Prather tuba, and William Laws drums.

*"Burnin' The Iceberg" was composed by Ferdinand 'Jelly Roll' Morton.

Although this particular cut is just as hot as it's title implies, other tunes from the 1929 sessions have been described as somewhat erratic. This can be attributed to Jelly's use of session musicians, some of whom hailed from the "Duke Ellington Orchestra", who were obviously unaccustomed to playing in the New Orleans style.
