Feat. Charlie Holmes

Recorded in New York City on February 5th 1930 featuring Red Allen trumpet, Jay C Higginbotham trombone, Charlie Holmes alto sax, Luis Russell piano, Will Johnson guitar, Pops Foster bass, and Paul Barbarin drums.

*"Give Me Your Telephone Number" was composed by Jay C. Higginbotham.

The assembly presented here is actually the "Luis Russell Orchestra" fronted by their trombonist, with featured saxophone soloist Charlie Holmes.

All play exceptionally well on this record which retains particular value for the audibility of Pops Foster's commonly under-recorded string bass; providing insight to his technique.
