In this scene from the 1929 technicolor musical "Gold Diggers of Broadway" singer & guitarist, Nick Lucas appears billed as "The Crooning Troubadour" for his famous trendsetting rendition of a brand-new song.

*"Tiptoe Through the Tulips with Me" was written by Joe Burke, with lyrics by Al Dubin.

This romantic ballad became very popular after its 1929 film debut in the "Gold Diggers of Broadway". The song would later be recorded to some success by a number of other male vocalists of the period including Johnny Marvin. In addition it was performed by the dance bands of Jean Goldkette and Roy Fox, but none compared to the original.
