Feat. Carl Sonny Leland

Filmed by Jeff Cardinal in Central California during January 2015 featuring Mark Caparone trumpet, Dave Caparone trombone, Jeff Beaumont f-Mezzo soprano sax & leader, Carl Sonny Leland piano & vocals, Todd Temanson and Al B Blue banjo, Katie Cavera bass, and Shirley Beaumont washboard.

The Basin Street Regulars Jazz Club hosts "The Creole Syncopators" who celebrate thirty years of playing traditional jazz on the Central Coast of California.

Four of the band's original members from 1985 are present: leader and reed player Jeff Beaumont, his wife Shirley on washboard, banjo player Todd Temanson, and Dave Caparone on trombone.

In this performance "The Creole Syncopators" accompany guest artist Carl Sonny Leyland who delivers a fantastic rendition of "Margie" on piano and vocals.

The song was composed in 1920 as a collaboration between pianists Con Conrad and J. Russel Robinson (who was a member of the "Original Dixieland Jazz Band") and lyrics were added by vaudeville performer Benny Davis.
