Catherine Russell

(1956 - )

Catherine Russell was born in New York City in 1956. She is the daughter of the late pianist Luis Russell, Louis Armstrong's long time musical director. Her mother Carline Ray held degrees from both Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music and during W W II sang with the "International Sweethearts of Rhythm", Mary Lou Williams, and Ruth Brown. Catherine who is blessed with the talents from both sides of her family has grown to become a truly gifted singer.
