"1929 Vita-phone Short"
(Feat. Bubber Miley)

This Vita-phone film short from March 1929 features Leo Reisman's "Hotel Brunswick Orchestra" with Leo Reisman violin & director, and special guests African-American hot trumpeter Bubber Miley, and pop singer Smith Ballew.

The songs performed are: "Moochie", "Water of Perkiomen", "If I Had You", "Hyo-Mio", "Milenberg Joys", "Lonely", and "Some of these Days".

This film was long sought-after by Jazz historians and collectors alike who first became aware of it's existence with the discovery of a surviving Vita-phone 78 RPM disc which contained the missing reels' sound track.

This previously missing audio clearly featured the unmistakable horn of Bubber Miley.

Even though only the trumpeter's silhouette is visible though a shadow screen, Miley's very presence gives this 1929 film short great historical significance as the first "talkie" to portray an racially mixed assembly.
