Born in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Bria Skonberg is a young jazz singer and trumpeter based in New York. As an elementary school student she studied the piano but switch to the trumpet in her teens. Bria graduated from Capilano University in Vancouver earning a degree in "jazz trumpet" in 2006. Since then she has worked as a professional musician and bandleader and gained valuable experience with the band of Canadian jazz veteran Dal Richards. In 2010 after performing at jazz Festivals around the Globe, Bria moved to New York City where she would co-found the "New York Hot Jazz Festival".

In 2017 Bria Skonberg won the Juno Award for "vocal jazz album of the year".
