This recording was made in New York City on August 15th 1927 with Red Nichols cornet, Miff Mole trombone, Pee Wee Russell clarinet, Fud Livingston tenor sax, Lennie Hayton piano & arranger, Dick McDonough guitar, Adrian Rollini bass sax, and Vic Berton drums & harp-o-phone.

*"Ida! Sweet As Apple Cider" was composed by Eddie Leonard.

"Red Nichols & His Five Pennies" was essentially the same group as "Miff Mole's Little Molers".

They also recorded under various different names including the "Arkansas Travelers", "The Red Heads","The Charleston Chasers", "The Louisiana Rhythm Kings", "The Hottentots" or "The Six Hottentots".

Adrian Rollini's bass saxophone presence provides a depth and fullness right from the start that is devoid from
many records of the period.
