Whistler's Jug Band

A novelty jug and string band organized by guitarist and nose whistler Buford Threlkeld, in Louisville, Kentucky in 1915. The group became the first jug band to appear on record in September 1924 and continued to be active throughout the early '30s. In spite of occasional changes in personnel fiddler Jess Ferguson, and banjoist Willie Black remained steady members of "Whistler's Jug Band".
