This record was made in New York City in 1927 featuring "Whispering" Jack Smith vocals.

*"My Blue Heaven" is a popular song written by Walter Donaldson in 1924, with lyrics by George A. Whiting.

Jack Smith was born Jacob Schmidt on May 31st 1898, in Bronx, New York. In 1918, while serving with the A.E.F. in France during World War I, Jack Smith was the victim of a German Gas assault at the battle of Saint-Mihiel. This injury left him with permanently damaged vocal chords giving his voice a soft gentle, whispering quality.

After being discharged from the Army, he returned to New York City where he performed as a pianist and singer in cabarets and nightclubs. Jacob had his name legally changed to Jack Smith and landed a job as a "song plugger" with Irving Berlin Inc. Music Publishers a short time later.
