*"Red Hot Mamma" was written by Gilbert Wells, Bud Cooper, and Fred Rose.

The "Georgia Melodians" were an early jazz band from Savannah, Georgia who became active at the beginning of the 1920s. In 1924 they arrived in New York where they played at the Cinderella Ballroom on 48th Street and Broadway. Throughout 1924 they made twenty-six sides for Edison Records that sold especially well.

Unfortunately the band broke up at years end, giving their last performance for the New Year's Eve Ball at the Hotel Alamac. Despite the disbandment, Edison continued to issue records under their name until April 1926 in order to meet the high demand for further recordings from the group.
