Recorded in Chicago on December 9th 1927 featuring Jimmy McPartland cornet, Frank Teschemacher clarinet, Bud Freeman tenor sax, Eddie Condon banjo & leader, Joe Sullivan piano, Jim Lannigan bass, and Gene Krupa drums.

*"China Boy" was composed by Dick Winfree and Phil Boutelje.

Red McKenzie appears on these sessions in name only. This period marks the beginning of his work as a scout and booking agent, his true calling. With his connections and negotiation skills Red was able to rapidly assemble bands of top musicians for record dates and gigs.

This side featured the youthful local Chicago cornetist Jimmy McPartland who was only
twenty years old at the time.
