Feat. Red Allen

Recorded in New York City on February 5th 1930 featuring Red Allen trumpet, J.C. Higginbotham trombone, Charlie Holmes alto sax, Luis Russell piano, Will Johnson guitar, Pops Foster bass, and Paul Barbarin drums.

*"Higginbotham Blues" was composed by Luis Russell and Jay C. Higginbotham.

Luis Russell's band appear as Higginbotham's "Six Hicks" for a recording of the trombonist's self-titled blues.

The bowed bass of Pops Foster adds a welcome density to the rhythm section here; with their star getting his exemplary instrumentations in towards the end.
