This side featuring Earl Hines classic composition "A Monday Date" was recorded in Chicago on July 27th 1928 with Louis Armstrong cornet and vocals, Earl Hines piano and vocals, Fred Robinson trombone, Jimmy Strong clarinet and tenor sax, Mancy Cara banjo, and Zutty Singleton drums.
At the beginning of the record Armstrong and Hines trade comic banter before leaping to action, initiated by the hand cymbals of Zutty Singleton.
