Feat. Loren McMurray

This side was recorded in Richmond, Indiana on October 21st 1921 featuring Sam Lanin director, Phil Napoleon trumpet, unknown trombone, Jimmy Lytell clarinet, Loren McMurray alto sax, Jimmy Durante piano, John Cali banjo, and Jack Roth drums.

*"Gypsy Blues" was composed by Noble Sissle and Eubie Blake.

The band's pianist Jimmy Durante would later achieve great success as a world famous actor and comedian.

The trombonist could be Moe Gappell. Brian Rust suggests it might also be Emile Christian instead. Miff Mole is not mentioned in connection with this early record of what was also known as the "Original Memphis Five". Too bad, because it is very good trombone work for that early date. I wonder... -Dan Weinstein
