This side was recorded on September 17th 1926 in Chicago with Charles Elgar violin, Darnell Howard clarinet and alto saxophone, Manuel Perez cornet?, Joe Sudler cornet, Harry Swift trombone, Logan Thomas piano, Bill Shelby banjo, Lawson Buford bass, and Ben Thigpen drums and vocals.
Violinist Charles Elgar left New Orleans in 1913 and moved to Chicago. Once there he organized several bands that played in and around the Chicago area in during 1920s. These recordings are of the band that he led at the Wisconsin Roof Gardens in Milwaukee from 1925 to 1927 and they were really quite swinging.
The cornet team is thought to be Joe Sudler and Emmanuel Perez and if that is the case, then these are the only known recordings of New Orleans cornet legend Manuel Perez.
