This recording was made in Chicago on July 14th 1926 featuring George Mitchell cornet, Kid Ory trombone, Johnny Dodds clarinet, Stump Evans alto sax, Lil Hardin Armstrong piano, Johnny St Cyr banjo, and Baby Dodds drums.
*"Mixed Salad" was composed by Lil Hardin and Louis Armstrong.
Saxophonist Paul 'Stump' Evans performed and recorded with a number of top jazz ensembles in Chicago during the early 1920s most famously with the "King Oliver Jazz Band" playing c-melody sax. Evans died of tuberculosis on August 29th 1928 at age twenty-four.
