Founders of Chicago Jazz

This film segment is from the NBC-TV special "Chicago and All That Jazz," with host Garry Moore, which aired on November 26th 1961.

First the "New Orleans Band" perform "Original Jelly Roll Blues," "Dr. Jazz," and "Heebie Jeebies" with Red Allen trumpet, Kid Ory trombone, Buster Bailey clarinet, Lil Armstrong piano and vocals, Johnny St Cyr six string banjo, Milt Hinton bass, Zutty Singleton drums, and Mae Barnes vocals, drums, and dancing.

Then they are joined by the "Chicagoans" comprised of Jimmy McPartland trumpet, Jack Teagarden trombone, Pee Wee Russell clarinet, Bud Freeman tenor sax, Joe Sullivan piano, Eddie Condon guitar, Bob Hagart bass, Gene Krupa drums, and Blossom Seely vocals, for a Jazz Jam free for all on the "Tiger Rag."
