Recorded in Chicago during December of 1923 featuring Gertrude 'Ma' Rainey vocals, Tommy Ladnier cornet, Jimmy O'Bryant clarinet, and Lovie Austin piano.

*"Bo-Weavil Blues" was written by Gertrude 'Ma' Rainey.

Migrating from Mexico to the United States during the late nineteenth century the Boll weevil spread to the cotton producing regions by the start of the 1920s. The infestation crippled the industry causing farmers to loose their entire crops and face financial ruin.
