Recorded in New Orleans on November 15th 1929 featuring Lee Collins trumpet, David Jones tenor sax, Sidney Arodin clarinet, Theodore Purnell alto sax, John Robichaux piano, Emmanuel Sayles banjo, Al Morgan bass, and Joe Strode Raphael drums.

*"Astoria Strut" was composed by Lee Collins and David Jones.

The "Astoria Hot Eight" derived their name from Astoria Gardens, the dance hall of the Astoria Hotel located on Rampart Street in New Orleans. Led by, trumpeter, Lee Collins and, saxophonist, David Jones this group held the position of house band at the hotel during the years of 1928 and '29.
