This recording was made in New York City on May 1st 1930 featuring Jack Purvis trumpet & leader, J.C. Higginbotham trombone, Greely Walton tenor sax, Frank Froeba piano, Will Johnson guitar, Adrian Rollini bass sax, and Charlie Kegley drums.

*"When You're Feeling Blue" was composed by Jack Purvis and Bob Stevens.

Like a number of other famous 1920's era trumpeters, Jack Purvis possessed that special spark that made the creation of fantastic jazz not merely possible, but abundant. On this side recorded in the Spring of 1930, Jack explores a softer side to his playing with (what starts off anyway as) a slightly tamer selection.
