Feat. Coleman Hawkins

Recorded in New York City on April 4th 1930 featuring Jack Purvis trumpet, J C Higginbotham trombone, Coleman Hawkins tenor sax, Frank Froeba piano, Will Johnson guitar, Adrian Rollini bass sax, and Charlie Kegley drums.

*"Dismal Dan" was composed by Jack Purvis.

Along with "Down Georgia Way" this was among Purvis' most popular original numbers.

Though an exceptional player Jack Purvis' career suffered from his continual undependability to show up for scheduled sessions and gigs. In 1933 he toured the South with Charlie Barnett and spent time in Texas working as an airplane pilot prior to his incarceration for a robbery in 1937.
