Feat. Hoagy Carmichael

This record was cut in Richmond, Indiana on May 19th 1925 featuring Curtis Hitch director, Fred Rollison cornet, Jerry Bump trombone (?), Harry Wright clarinet, Myron "Rookie" Neal c-melody sax, Dewey Neal (or Haskell Simpson) bass brass, Hoagy Carmichael piano & director, Maurice Mays (or Arnold Habbe) banjo, and Earl MacDowell drums.

*"Washboard Blues" was composed by Hoagy Carmichael.

Hoagy Carmichael was featured as a guest pianist with "Curtis Hitch's Happy Harmonists" for a couple of his own tunes "Washboard Blues" and "Boneyard Shuffle" captured at a Gennett recording session on May 19th 1925. Complete with an impressive improvised solo the group's recording of "Washboard Blues" is particularly good and the session would mark Hoagy's earliest appearance on record performing his original music with a band. This composition's debut on record was actually produced on this date.
