Recorded in New York City on March 1st 1929 featuring Charlie Gaines trumpet, Charlie Irvis trombone, Arville Harris clarinet, alto, & tenor sax, Fats Waller piano & leader, and Eddie Condon banjo.

*"The Minor Drag" was composed by Thomas "Fats" Waller.

In 1926 Fats Waller began his recording association with Victor, his principal record company for the rest of his life, with the organ solos "St. Louis Blues" and his own composition, "Lenox Avenue Blues". From this point went on to record with various groups, including "Thomas Morris's Hot Babes" in 1927, and "Fats Waller's Buddies" one of the earliest recorded interracial groups in 1929.

It is interesting to note that "The Minor Drag" bears a more than passing resemblance to "Lafayette", as recorded by Bennie Moten's band at their final session in December, 1932 (and in 1940 by "Hot Lips" Page.)
