This classic side was cut on December 16th 1926 at the Webster Hotel in Chicago with Jelly Roll Morton piano, George Mitchell cornet, Kid Ory trombone, Omer Simeon clarinet, Johnny St Cyr banjo, John Lindsay bass, and Andrew Hilaire drums.

*Jelly's first title for this number was "Chicago Blues" but the people of that city praised the number for it's originality and began referring to it as the "Original Jelly Roll Blues."
