Feat. Tom Stacks
(as Tom Howard)

This side was cut in New York City on November 5th 1926 featuring Earl Oliver trumpet, Sammy Lewis trombone, Larry Abbott clarinet & alto sax, Bill Wirges piano, Harry Reser banjo & director, Jimmy Johnston bass sax, and Tom Stacks drums & vocals.

*"Fire !" "(An Alarming Novelty)" was composed by Byron Gay and Richard A. Whiting.

A dark cloud is cast over the humor of this comic novelty song by the circumstances of Tom Stacks' unfortunate death ten years later on February 19th 1936 when a fire broke out at a Chinese Restaurant where he was performing. After the building was evacuated the pint-sized percussionist, scarcely weighing one-hundred pounds, went back in to retrieve his drums and perished in the blaze. -Matt Chauvin
