Feat. Eddie Lang

This side was recorded in New York City on November 25th 1928 featuring King Oliver cornet, Clarence Williams piano, vocals, & celeste, Eddie Lang violin & guitar, and Justin Ring percussion.

*"What Ya Want Me To Do?" is credited to Clarence Williams and Joe 'King' Oliver.

Eddie Lang doubles on violin on this record, playing on it the first passages before switching to guitar.

There's been some controversy about the personnel of this side: Tommy Dorsey or King Oliver? To my ear it's Oliver or nobody! The cornet playing is so simple and poignant, forceful but not strident, the chops are NOT in first-class condition, he makes every note count. Eddie Lang is immortal, of course. Never heard his violin playing except here. Thanks for posting this!! -Brad Kay
