Recorded in New York City on October 16th 1929 featuring Smith Ballew vocals, Joe Venuti violin & leader, Eddie Lang guitar, with orchestral accompaniment.

*"Chant of the Jungle" was composed by Nacio Herb Brown, with lyrics written by Arthur Freed.

This song was originally featured in the Motion Picture "Unarmed".

According to Okeh Record's company files the "orchestral accompaniment" for this session was provided by members of the "Eddie Gordon Band".

Lots of New York session guys here many of whom were also in Paul Whiteman's band:

Andy Secrest, Charlie Margulis, Harry Goldfield trumpet, Bill Rank trombone, Izzy Friedman, Charles Strickfadden, and Rube Crozier reeds, Lennie Hayton piano & celeste, Joe Tarto tuba, and Stan King drums. Joe Tarto is also credited as the arranger. As a matter of interest, where does the "Eddie Gordon Band" fit in? -Henry Davis
