Feat. Freddie Keppard

Recorded in Richmond, Indiana on January 21st 1924 with Doc Cook conductor, Freddie Keppard cornet, Fred Garland trombone, Clifford King clarinet & alto sax, Jerome Don Pasquall tenor sax, Jimmy Bell piano & violin, Stan Wilson banjo, Bill Newton tuba, and Tubby Hall drums.

*"So This is Venice" was composed by Grant Clarke, Edgar Leslie and Harry Warren.

Well known for his muted cornet Freddie Keppard would often use it to produced a laughing effect.

Suspicious by nature he would play with a handkerchief covering his hand so that others would not be able to copy his fingerings.

(This is the finest recorded example of Freddie Keppard's famous muted laughing cornet.)
