*"The Man From The South" was composed by Rube Bloom and Harry Woods in 1929.

Composer and lyricist Harry Woods not only created songs on his own, but often collaborated with others resulting in a number of smash hits. His initial publishing success came in 1923 with the song "I'm Goin' South" written with Abner Silver, which was subsequently recorded by Al Jolson.
